The Place of Blessing

"Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: 'Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.'" — 1 Kings 17:2-4

When the prophet Elijah needed provision, God did not broadcast a general blessing into the open air. He named a location. He said: Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.

Notice what the word does not say. It does not hand Elijah a route-map to the end of the drought. It gives him the next place — the Kerith Ravine — and the specific supply waiting there. The provision is not floating free, available anywhere Elijah decides to stand. It is situated. It is at the location God named.

This matters for where you are today. You are not lacking God's willingness to provide. You are waiting for a panoramic view that the verse does not promise. What the verse promises is something narrower — and more useful: a next step with supply attached. The obedience to the one named direction is itself the movement into the provision. You do not need to see the whole route. You need to hear and move toward the one thing you can hear.

The stuck place is not punishment. It is not evidence that God has gone quiet. It is, very often, the place just before you turn eastward. The question the verse places in front of you is not "Can I see how this resolves?" The question is: what is the Kerith Ravine He is naming to you today? Hear it. Turn toward it. The supply is there, not here.
